After watching the Adventure Time episode "I Remember You", I couldn't get Simon and Marceline out of my head. I kept thinking about what their life together was like, before Simon ultimately became the Ice King we all know and love/hate today. So, I finally decided to make a comic about it...or, at least, a part of it. This is the first page of a 17-page comic I'll be putting up here; it'll be updated 1-2 times a week until it's finished. So, enjoy! (But you may or may not completely hate me when it's over. Eh.)
I should note that when I first watched this episode, I imagined that the flashback scene was from when Simon and Marceline first met - which is how I'm starting this comic - but according to the original storyboards, they already knew each other. Oops, oh well. I also recently saw the list of all of season 5's episodes, and realized that there's actually an upcoming episode entitled "Simon and Marcy". Because, you know, this show hasn't ALREADY caused us enough emotional distress, amirite? But anyway, I guess we'll see how completely wrong my headcanon is when it comes out, huh? (I'm hoping I'll have everything posted before the episode is released, but we'll see.)
On a side note...where was dear ol' Papa Abadeer during all this?! The best I can figure is that he intentionally left Marceline by herself as some sort of misguided training exercise to prepare her to one day take over the Nightosphere. Or something.
The episode made me cry and so did your magnificent comic. Don't get me wrong: I welcome when creativity sparks emotions from people, but alas: I didn't think Adventure Time would do that to me. It was just so indescribable... and downright amazing.
Thank you very much for sharing your work with us. I'm marveled, humbled and inspired by you and many others whose work has that spark that ignites emotions in others who can appreciate the marvels you make.
